Power distribution units, or PDUs, are essential devices for computers and networking equipment. Through these units, power supply is effectively shared among all pieces of computer equipment within the network, ensuring that the network is always up and running. PDUs are either floor-mounted or rack-based. Also called power strips, rack-based PDUs are more commonly used for office computer networks today. These devices are equipped with a range of functionalities; some PDUs are simply equipped with multiple outlets, while other units provide additional functionalities of switching and metering.
