Camera Control Units (or CCUs) are designed to complement a multi-camera setup, so that the camera operators can focus on the shot. Typically, CCUs control the technical camera parameters, including shutter speed, color balance, and gain. Some CCUs even have onboard zoom, focus, and pan controls, so a user can control the cameras remotely.
