Get those old VHS/VCR tapes ready for Prime Time viewing with Ensemble Designs BrightEye 5 Time Base Corrector.
For those of you who already know the benefits of using a Time Base Corrector amd Frame Synchronizer please feel free to move on.... but for those of you who don't...here is a brief primer!
There is no such thing as a "one size fits all" method to restoring video or the audio that accompanies the video. There are no softwares with a "restore" checkbox or filter. This takes a bit of skill and investment into the right kind of equipment. There will be some trial and error but restoration is what separates the dedicated video hobbyists from the rest of the crowd.
Restoration requires three steps: (1) purifying the video signal, (2) a quality capture with a good capture device, and (3) filtering the video one last time in software.
Step one (1) is what TBC/Frame Sync is all about. The purpose of a TBC is to strip the video signal of its damaged timing and insert a new, clean timing. This will remove many motion errors, such as a jittery video and to adjust brightening or darkening of the image. Once step 1 has been accomplished then steps 2 and 3 will be much easier to deal with and you're on your way to becoming a seasoned Video Editor.
This is a description of a TBC's function in it's most basic form. The Ensemble Designs BrightEye 5 has so many more features for the Pro/Broadcast crowd. Seasoned Pro's and novices alike will be able to utilize the BrightEye 5 as they expand or upgrade. It will always remain relevent!
BrightEye 5 is a Time Base Corrector with analog composite inputs and outputs. 12 bit digital signal processing ensures the best signal handling and a solid output. BrightEye 5 will time base correct signals from analog sources such as consumer VCRs, cameras and noisy microwave receivers.
The analog input is converted at 12 bits of resolution for digital processing. The signal is time base corrected and frame synchronized to the reference input and converted back to analog for output. BrightEye 5 auto detects the video standard of the input (PAL or NTSC).
Basic controls are provided on the front panel. With BrightEye PC, you can control video proc functions; Gain, Chroma, Pedestal, and Hue. The vertical interval can be passed or blanked.
Power supply is included.
