SoundTools adds another key piece to their Analog-Audio-Over-Cat family of products with the WallCAT 5. The WallCAT 5 unit allows you to use installed shielded category 5e or higher grade cable to carry analog audio and digital signals from one room to another or to multiple rooms at once. With four (4) genuine Neutrik XLR connections and a Neutrik etherCON port in front and two (2) parallel RJ45 connections in the back you can send four channels to multiple locations. The front panel etherCon allows connecting to a SoundTools CAT Box, Cat Tails or Cat Rack for remote breakouts and signal connections.
The WallCAT 5 fits a US standard 2-gang outlet box with four XLR male connectors and a female etherCON connector, and comes with mounting hardware included. Installation is as simple as connecting your shielded RJ45 cables to the back of the unit and then using the included screws to attach the unit to your wall mount. Each of the four XLR channels is isolated, so you can run different types of signals simultaneously over the same Cat cable. The WallCAT 5 is compatible with analog audio, AES3, DMX, COM, and other 3-pin XLR-based signals and is AES72-20 compliant.
Each WallCAT 5 unit comes with clear and easy labeling to make it simple to install and use in your studio, conference hall, office, or other installation space.
