The SoundTools CAT Box MX Stage Box allows four lines of balanced analog audio to be run down a shielded CAT5, CAT5e, CAT6 or CAT7 cable. Each CAT Box stage box has an etherCON input and an etherCON parallel output that allows the CAT Box to be used as a hard-wire split. You can run 4 stereo AES lines down a single shielded CAT5/5e/6 cable for a longer distance AES signal. CAT5e is superior for carrying AES signals over longer distances than conventional 4-channel audio snakes.
The CAT Box is compatible with DMX, ClearCom and other 3-pin XLR based com systems. You can combine multiple CAT Box stage boxes to create a low cost snake system and multiple CAT Box stage boxes can be daisy chained to allow the same four analog channels to be dropped in multiple locations. This unit is also 48V phantom power compatible.
It is constructed of durable anodized aluminum with stainless steel screws to prevent rust. This unit uses four Neutrik XLR connectors and two Neutrik etherCON connectors. The low profile in-line design allows it to be laid on its side, so cables lay flat on the floor. Using shielded CAT5e reduces the cost of cable to less than 15% the cost of conventional 4-channel shielded audio snakes. You can create 4-channel Male to Male, Female to Female or XLR "Y" adapters by connecting various combinations of CAT Box male and female stage boxes.
PLEASE NOTE: SoundTools CAT branded products REQUIRE shielded CAT5, CAT5e, CAT6 or CAT7 cable and they work in pairs. Two are required to make a complete connection. Also note that ALL Rat Sound Category 5/6/7 extender products ( i.e. CAT Rack, CAT Box. Wall CAT, etc.) will travel 328ft (100m) and are all compatible with balanced analog, digital, AES/EBU (110 Ohm), DMX and Clear-Com signals.
