Patton's rugged and reliable CopperLink CL2322R/DC is an IP-40 rated Industrial Extender for Ethernet and RS-232 that delivers, speed, and distance for industrial networking. Supporting topologies including point-to-point, multi-point, daisy-chain, and ring the solution delivers ultimate flexibility for utilization of copper cable plant.
The product has two composite "line interfaces" on each unit. Those line interfaces can support pairing (local and remote) extensions in point-to-point extensions. They can also be used as north, south, east or west facing interfaces for daisy-chain, and ring networking.
The unit extends Ethernet and RS-232 to remote devices LANs using current or legacy copper infrastructure. It supports distances of up to 4 miles (6.5 km) for each span. The number of remote sites and total distance is almost unlimited based on the bridging and repeating capabilities.
An embedded Serial-to IP-device server/converter transports RS-232 over UDP and TCP plus Telnet, Raw-IP, Message/Bloc, HNZ and MODBUS adaptation suitable for industrial data acquisition and control with master/slave multipoint modem emulation.
QoS Traffic Prioritization such as Rate Limiting and Priority Queuing enable prioritization of traffic types, such as time sensitive signaling or video streams. A store-and-forward engine performs optimal packet forwarding, delivering the lowest latency for end-to-end transfers..Its Ethernet ports have automatic MDI/MDIX and 10/100 Mbps speed detection.
Network access security is delivered using various standards for authentication and access control including STP, RSTP Secured Ring, 802.1X, and Radius. Configuration and management is performed using a local USB port (Host/Device), or via SSH, HTTP, HTTPS, SNMP, FTP and intuitive Web User Interface.
The unit is packaged in a heavy-duty metal enclosure for durability and offers IP-40 level protection and operating temperatures from -20 to +70°C. It comes with DIN rail mounting kit for panel builds and can also be installed in a 19" rack.
Applications:
The CL2320 Series Ethernet Extenders deliver point-to-point, multi-drop (bus) or ring topologies. With Northbound and Southbound composite (extension) interfaces, the device allows Ethernet and RS-232 to be dropped at remote locations at distance over copper twisted pair. A built-in Device Server delivers serial RS-232 extension and/or connectivity to IP.
