The Patton CopperLink SFP is a single pair, low power SFP (Small Form-factor Pluggable) Ethernet-over-Copper Extender. The module can be plugged into any Router, Ethernet Switch or Media Converter that has SFPs slots that support 100BASE-FX and/or 1000BASE-X.
The CopperLink SFP supports distances of up to 3.5 miles (18,000 feet, 6.2 Km) over 1 pair of wires. The embedded firmware is optimized for full duplex rates between 1.5 and 18Mbps.
The device uses a proprietary implementation of Pulse Amplitude Modulation (PAM) technology with lower frequency bandwidths compared to VDSL/ADSL technology. As a result, the transmission presents less interference with other signals in wire bundles making the transmission safer and more reliable.
Configuration is done with a user-friendly Web GUI, or with an intuitive CLI accessed via Telnet. The units can set to fixed transmission rates or automatically adapt the transmission rate.
The link synchronization in Fixed Rate Mode is very fast at between 2 and 10 seconds. In Auto Rate Mode, SFP modems automatically adjust the transmission rate to the optimum performance that line conditions can support. The copper line interface has 1500V RMS isolation and meets the ITU-T K.20/K.21 protection standard.
Link Quality Monitoring provides users with link performance information useful during installation and maintenance. Fast Link Recovery Automatic Active Device Detection allows the CL-SFP to detect an active device on the remote side of the line and recognize a line failure.
The units come with two different options for terminating wires including a Single Pair Ethernet compliant (IEC 63171-6) metal latching connectors and Combicon XC with Snap-in Locking connector.
Applications:
The CopperLink SFP can be installed in any Media Converter, Switch, or Router that has SFPs slots supporting 100BASE-FX and/or 1000BASE-X.
