The VIS-1832 is normally used in connection with the VIM-1832 or VIM-MY32 YGDAI cards to achieve a 32+8 fiber-optic transport system. It is normally used as a transport from STAGE to FOH, with or without splits. This device contains 32 mic/line inputs (sends) and 8 analog line level outputs (returns). There is a 3 position gain switch for each input that sets the gain of the mic-pre. The normal settings for these switches are as follows: 0 = line level, 26 = mic level, 12 = high transient / very “hot” mic level. Each input has an associated LED indicator which begins flashing red 3dB before clipping. There are 4 +48v phantom power on/off switches with associated on/off LED indicators. Phantom power is applied in groups of 8 inputs. The VIS-1832 is supplied with a pair of transmit/receive OpticalCon fiber connectors (other connector types possible). Two optical splits come standard. These splits (transmit only) are presented on OpticalCon connectors also. The VRK-1832 will operate at 48k or 96k. There is a “sync” status LED on the front (top) of the unit. This LED will be solid green when in sync, flashing red and green while looking for sync, and solid red when no sync is present.
