The VS-R265 is a 4K/UHD AV over IP streaming encoder and decoder that simultaneously records, encodes, streams, and decodes 4K video streams (3840x2160) using High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC), a high efficiency coding scheme that delivers H.264 video quality at half the bit rate.
Multiple Simulcast and backup enabled by 3 RTMP Streams Simultaneously
V1.1.0 adds support for three simultaneous RTMP streams for distribution to multiple platforms, as well as simultaneous backup distribution to the server of the same streaming service.
The total number of simultaneous streams is eight (3 x RTMP / RTMPS? 1 x RTSP?1 x HLS?2 x RTP / UDP Unicast, 1 x RTP / UDP Multicast)
Professional Audio and Video Streaming For 4K AV over IP Applications
Balanced analog Euroblock/Phoenix low voltage wire connectors and unbalanced analog 1/8" (3.5mm) mini-stereo jacks provide versatile audio I/O connections for a wide range commercial AV over IP environments, including corporate, education, house of worship, government, industrial and security.
TASCAM Professional Audio Integration With Streaming Video
Audio can be embedded from analog sources and de-embedded to drive networked audio playback for ceiling speakers, or digital audio within the HDMI I/O can be used. An integrated installed output level configuration function and reference level switching function (up to +20dBu) allows reliable and flexible system structuring when streaming video.
Output selectable from various streams
The decoder can receive RTP, UDP unicast, RTP/UDP multicast, RTMP/RTMPS, and HLS streams. The selected stream will be decoded, and the audio and video will be output through the HDMI terminal. In addition, audio can be simultaneously output through the balanced (Euroblock) and unbalanced (3.5mm stereo mini jack) audio outputs.
Simultaneous Recording and Archiving Via SD and USB
The VS-R265 can record directly to USB connected media or SD cards via a front panel loading slot.Tascam has released a firmware update for its VS-R series video streamers/recorders which increases the number of concurrent RTMP streams from one to three. This means users can now stream simultaneously to up to three online video platforms that use the RTMP or RTMPS protocol, which include YouTube, Facebook, Twitch, Wowza, Vimeo, Boxcast, DaCast and many others. RTMP can also be used to stream to education platforms such as Planet eStream and Panopto. With multiple RTMP streams available, VS-R264 and VS-R265 can now send one stream to the main server URL and send a second stream to a different URL for a backup, something that many online platforms provide for extra resilience.
With the new v1.1 firmware, the total number of video streams that a VS-R264 or VS-R265 can deliver at the same time is increased to eight: 3 x RTMP/RTMPS, 1 x RTSP, 1 x HLS, 2 x RTP/UDP Unicast and 1 x RTP/UDP Multicast. The VS-R also records directly to SD cards or USB storage media at the same time and can automatically upload recorded files via FTP. Moreover, the VS-R's decoder can simultaneously receive a stream in one of several formats and transfer the decoded signal to a screen via HDMI or to a sound system via balanced and unbalanced outputs.
